We are looking for a curious, committed, and highly motivated Laboratory Technician (m/f/d) to join our Microbial Discovery & Bionutrients team in the Innovation department starting from January 1st 2027.

You will support the development of innovative yeast-derived bionutrients and their applications for industrial fermentation processes. The role involves a wide range of laboratory activities with a strong focus on microbiology and fermentation, working closely with our technologists, while also independently managing essential laboratory tasks.

The role & Your tasks

• Prepare culture media and laboratory reagents.
• Maintain microbial strain collections, laboratory equipment, and inventories.
• Prepare and handle microbial cultures, ensuring aseptic handling.
• Set up, operate, and maintain lab-scale fermentation systems (e.g. microtiter plates, flasks, bioreactors).
• Execute fermentation experiments in lab-scale fermentation systems following established protocols, including sampling, process control, and data documentation.
• Conduct microbiological and physicochemical analyses (e.g., cell counting by agar plating, microscopy, pH, optical density, enzymatic assays).
• Write, review, and update SOPs and laboratory procedures.
• Contribute to laboratory organization, safety compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate effectively with our multidisciplinary teams in the Innovation department.
  
  

Your profile

• CTA, BTA, B.Sc., or a comparable qualification with a focus on microbiology, industrial biotechnology, biology, or related disciplines.
• Hands-on experience in microbiology and aseptic handling of microorganisms.
• Experience with fermentation processes or bioreactor operation is an advantage.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable, proactive, and team-oriented working style.
• Good written and spoken English; German is a plus.
