AI/ML System Architecture Lead (f/m/d) - #2692249

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on AI/ML leader to lead our AI Systems team in Hamburg, working closely with Product Management, System Architects, and engineering teams to define and enable AI/ML solutions for NXP's next-generation edge products and platforms.

The successful candidate will lead a local team of AI/ML architects and engineers, driving technical excellence and execution across AI system architecture, evaluation, and prototyping activities. As part of the global AI Systems organization, this role will collaborate closely with the AIS AI Systems Lead and peer teams across various locations to develop scalable AI solutions and accelerate Edge AI innovation across NXP's portfolio.

Job Responsibilities

Lead the Hamburg AI Systems team and actively contribute to technical activities, including:

• Supporting Product Management in evaluating and defining AI/ML architectures for target products and solutions, balancing customer requirements, performance, power, area, and cost constraints.
• Working closely with SoC, system, and software architects to develop, review, and maintain AI/ML architecture specifications, requirements, and related technical documentation.
• Modeling, evaluating, and prototyping AI use cases on current and future NXP platforms.
• Contributing to AI IP evaluation, benchmarking, and technology selection activities in collaboration with global AI Systems teams.
• Driving technical execution and delivery of AI Systems projects within the Hamburg team.
• Coaching, mentoring, and developing a team of AI/ML architects and engineers, fostering technical growth and innovation.
• Collaborating with peer AI Systems leaders and stakeholders across the organization to ensure consistency of architecture approaches, methodologies, and best practices.
• Supporting engagements with customers, partners, and industry organizations as a technical representative for AI Systems initiatives when required.
• Contributing to technical publications, conference presentations, and industry activities that showcase NXP's Edge AI capabilities.
  
  

Job Qualifications

• Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field. MSc preferred. PhD is a plus, ideally in AI/ML or a related specialization.
• 7+ years of experience in relevant technical fields, including experience leading technical teams or projects.
• Strong AI/ML expertise with at least 3-5 years of practical experience, preferably in mixed hardware-software environments.
• Experience in AI system architecture, embedded systems, SoC development, or related technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic approach to technology development.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineers in a collaborative, high-performance environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional teams.
