About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Machine Learning Engineer (f/m/x) to join our team in Hamburg, Germany. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and scaling machine learning systems that have a direct impact on our product performance, user engagement, and revenue generation. You will operate at the intersection of data science, engineering, and product management, owning the full ML lifecycle from initial experimentation to continuous improvement in production environments. This role demands a strategic thinker with hands-on technical expertise and the ability to translate ambiguous business problems into robust ML solutions. You will help establish best practices and infrastructure for machine learning at exmox, laying the foundation for scalable, reliable, and innovative AI-driven features across our platform. Collaboration across teams is essential, as you will work closely with data scientists, data engineers, and product teams to deliver impactful solutions that enhance our competitive edge in the mobile gaming industry.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in machine learning, data science, or applied statistics with a focus on production systems
• Proficiency in Python and experience with modern ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
• Strong understanding of data pipelines, SQL, data warehouses, ETL/ELT workflows, and Databricks
• Hands-on experience deploying, monitoring, and maintaining ML models in production environments
• Familiarity with AI tools, including Claude and LLM APIs, for prototyping and feature development
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
• Proven ability to work in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and take ownership of projects from start to finish
• Experience establishing ML infrastructure, best practices, and architecture at scale
  
  

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models that solve real-world business problems and influence product performance
• Manage the entire ML lifecycle, including experimentation, validation, deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvements
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to translate insights and hypotheses into scalable ML solutions
• Partner with data engineers to ensure robust data pipelines, feature availability, and reliable model deployment
• Define and implement best practices, tooling, and architecture for ML development and deployment at exmox
• Transform loosely defined problems into structured ML systems, making strategic trade-offs and defining approaches
• Establish foundational ML infrastructure to support future scaling and innovation
