Accounting & Tax Director (m/f/d) - #2680357

As Accounting & Tax Director at kununu, you'll play a key role in shaping the financial foundation of our business. Reporting directly to the VP Finance, you'll lead our accounting and tax function, ensuring financial excellence, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across the organization.

You'll oversee financial reporting, accounting operations, and group-wide tax matters while driving continuous improvements to our processes, systems, and controls. Beyond technical expertise, you'll empower your team, collaborate with stakeholders across the business, and help build a scalable finance organization that supports kununu's continued growth.

Your Tasks

• Lead and continuously improve our accounting, tax, reporting, and internal control framework.
• Own statutory financial reporting and group consolidation across the kununu entities.
• Take overall responsibility for accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Treasury.
• Drive efficient, reliable month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Lead our group-wide tax function by ensuring compliance and developing tax strategies that optimize the company's tax position within legal requirements.
• Partner with external stakeholders such as auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners, while collaborating closely with internal teams across the business.
• Build, coach, and develop a high-performing accounting and tax team, fostering growth, ownership, and continuous learning.
• Strengthen and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets, ensure data integrity, and support compliance.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, increase automation, and establish best practices across the finance function.

Your Skills

• A graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a comparable field.
• Several years of leadership experience within finance, accounting, or tax functions, including people management.
• At least 10 years of progressive professional experience in finance, accounting, or business management. Experience in a private equity-backed environment is a plus.
• Deep expertise in accounting and tax, with strong knowledge of HGB (or UGB) and IFRS.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights and strategic recommendations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset.
• Knowledge in Microsoft Business Central and Reporting/ Consolidation Tools (e.g. Corporate Planner) is an advantage.
• Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling effective collaboration across departments and leadership levels.
• A hands-on leadership style combined with the ability to think strategically and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent German and English skills

The annual gross salary for this position ranges between €100,000 and €130,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
