About Maritime
We help enhance the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of our customers in the global shipping industry, covering all vessel types and mobile offshore units. As a partner to industry, we offer services in testing, certification, training, and technical advisory through the energy value chain. That means we’re continually investing heavily into R&D for new services and solutions while proactively assessing what the industry needs today and tomorrow.
About The Role
Technical Support in Ship Classification provides global support and governance to all DNV regions in the daily operation and survey of vessels. Technical Support consists of ten units, with five based in Høvik, three in Hamburg, and three hub units located in Greece, Houston, and Singapore. Together, we cover all technical disciplines relevant to vessels in operation and their needs. With these units strategically located around the world, we are able to provide 24/7 support to our customers through Remote Surveys and the DATE (Direct Access to Technical Experts) service.
The Class Systematics, Data & Operational Centre is a key unit within Technical Support. The unit forms the core of our operational centre, with a focus on handling Remote Surveys and DATE cases (Direct Access to Technical Experts) within its disciplines. In our daily work, we provide technical expertise to DNV's fleet-in-service stakeholders, both internal and external. The unit is also responsible for all issues around vessels certificates issued by DNV, which is an intersection of maritime compliance and digitalization. We cooperate closely with other discipline units within Technical Support and participate in the weekend duty shift system. Weekend duties of Technical Support ensure that customers and colleagues get qualified support 24/7 - same operating hours as the maritime industry. The shifts are taken on a voluntary basis between Technical Support colleagues based in Singapore, Germany, Norway, Greece and the USA to ensure around the clock coverage.
