Simulation Engineer - #2634073
FS Dynamics
CFD Engineer (On-Site, Hamburg)
Help us push the limits of simulation.
FS Dynamics Hamburg is growing fast, tackling problems across multiphase & reacting flows, rarefied gases, plasma physics, FSI, and acoustics—often at micro-meter and milli-Kelvin scales. If you love turning hard physics into actionable engineering—and you’re the kind of person who won’t leave a stone unturned—you’ll feel at home here.
Why this role?
- Impact: Work on real-world challenges for leading European OEMs where your models influence design, yield, and time-to-market.
- Depth & variety: From CVD/etch surface chemistry to low-pressure plasma to micro-scale transport and thermal-structural coupling.
- Growth: Join one of Europe most active CAE hubs and collaborate with a 180+ CAE community across Germany, Sweden, Portugal, and Finland.
What you’ll do
- Build and validate computational models for fluid dynamics, heat-mass transfer, surface chemistry, particle physics and low-pressure/rarefied regimes.
- Run and refine simulations (STAR-CCM+ / COMSOL / ANSYS, etc.).
- Analyze results to uncover mechanisms and provide clear, decision-ready insights to customers and internal teams.
- Co-develop new multiphysics and methodology with our CFD & FEA & plasma groups (e.g., coupling, reduced-order/1D system models).
- Stay updated with advances in the physics modelling techniques and tools.
What you bring
- MSc or equivalent in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering, Computational Physics or related field.
- Strong foundation in fluid dynamics, heat & mass transfer, and ideally surface chemistry / reacting flows and multiphase flow.
- Hands-on with CFD tools (STAR-CCM+, Ansys, COMSOL or similar).
- Scripting/software skills (Python, MATLAB).
- A can-do, can-learn mindset, rigorous problem-solving abilities, and sharp attention to detail.
- Clear communicator and able to explain complex matters for broad audience.
- Comfortable working independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
- You are fluent in German and English, both written and spoken, and enjoy working in an international environment.
Nice to have
- Experience with 1D/system modeling (e.g., AMESim, Modelica).
- Experience with ML and AI tools like NVIDIA Physics NeMo.
- Knowledge and experience with Direct Simulation Monte Carlo or Lattice Boltzmann Method or Molecular Dynamics simulation.
What we offer
- Competitive salary.
- Training and development opportunities
- Flexible working time arrangements
- And other benefits.
