We are looking for a

(Junior) Product Owner (f/m/x)

to join our newly formed, cross-functional

Insurance Product Team.

This new product is being built

alongside

our existing platform, incorporating a fresh onboarding flow, bespoke operational processes, and strong conversion and growth focus. It plays a central role in unlocking new customer segments and future revenue streams.

You will

own

a product end-to-end, from problem discovery to delivery, and everything in between: you’ll shape the product strategy, define success metrics, align with stakeholders, and work closely with engineering, design, marketing, and operations to bring innovative ideas to life

What you will be doing

• 
  Take ownership of a new product together with stakeholders within smava’s expanding portfolio — from vision to execution
  
• 
  Define the product strategy, team goals, and measurable success criteria
  
• 
  Conduct market and customer research to understand needs, opportunities, and differentiators
  
• 
  Translate insights into a clear roadmap and align it with stakeholders across the company
  
• 
  Drive experiments and initiatives to improve conversion, growth, and operational efficiency
  
• 
  Collaborate with design, engineering, and operations to ensure high-quality execution
  
• 
  Dive into data, generate insights, and turn them into action
  
• 
  Act as a strong lateral leader and communicator within a cross-functional team
  

Who we are looking for

Must-haves

• 
  A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication, Computer Science or a related field. First experience in product management, product strategy, or business operations is strongly preferred
  
• 
  A sharp, analytical, and curious mind with strong problem-solving skills
  
• 
  Motivation and hunger to take ownership and drive impact — you’re not afraid to take responsibility
  
• 
  A structured way of thinking and communicating, with the ability to turn complex topics into clear priorities
  
• 
  Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence without authority
  
• 
  A proactive mindset and the ability to handle ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  
• 
  Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  

Nice-to-haves

• 
  Previous experience working in a startup (or fast-paced digital environment) or in consulting
  
• 
  Familiarity with data tools (e.g. Excel, SQL, Amplitude, Tableau)
  
• 
  Basic understanding of software development processes and UX principles
  
• 
  Fluency in German (written and spoken)
