At Evotec’s headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, the Global IT Systems Engineering Team is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated

System Engineer (all genders) Virtualization

Fulltime and permanent

Responsibilities

• Develop virtualization solutions that optimize resource utilization and performance.
• Integrate virtualization technologies into existing IT infrastructures while ensuring compatibility, security, and efficiency.
• Manage day-to-day operations, including applying updates, patches, and configuration changes.
• Monitor systems proactively, analyze issues, and implement timely resolutions to minimize downtime.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and implement improvements in virtualization infrastructure.
• Automate processes to streamline service provisioning and reduce manual work.
  
  

Additional Tasks

• Maintain comprehensive system documentation, including architecture diagrams and configurations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams for seamless integration and operation.
• Continuously monitor performance and security, identifying and preventing potential issues.
• Provide expert advice and support to end users on virtualization solutions.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  
  

Proven experience with virtualization technologies.

• Strong understanding of kernel-based virtualization and associated tools.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation.
• Familiarity with virtual networking concepts (virtual switches, VLANs, software-defined networking).
• Experience with virtual and software-defined storage solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
